I've loved, shown, trained and bred dogs since I was in elementary school, but in 2004, I met the breed that would change my life and love of dogs forever. The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. AnamCara, named in honor of my first Wheaten "Cara" is located on Reality Mountain in Little Washington, Virginia. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains we are about 90 minutes outside of Washington, DC.
The Wheaten retains his puppy antics and medium-to-high energy level all his life. It is considered a high-maintenance breed. You must commit to frequent grooming to keep their beautiful coat clean and free of mats. The Wheaten is a non-shedding breed with a personality that can make them a challenge to train. http://www.scwtca.org/
But, we expect you to do your homework first. Keeping a Wheaten Terrier is an expensive proposition between quality food, veterinary care, grooming and training. Please refer to the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America (SCWTCA) website for detailed information on our breed. http://www.scwtca.org/
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for a puppy application.
AnamCara is careful in selecting our bloodlines for health and temperament. Any breeder should be willing to show you the results of their breeding stock's extensive health testing. If they are not, you should be very skeptical.
Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are stable and fun-loving and are adaptable to country and city living. They were originally bred to be all-purpose farm dogs. They relate well to children and make good watch-dogs. They are animated, inquisitive, cheerful dogs who love their people. However, bad breeding can lead to bad temperaments. Meet your breeder's dogs!
AnamCara Dogs have fantastic lineage and have been proven with conformation championships. Wheatens are a hearty breed and make great performance partners! But, the most important thing they do, is make loving family pets. Many have great success with other dog sports like rally, agility and barn hunt. And, sometimes they are just great couch potatoes!

"Phaser" - My husband and I traveled to Amsterdam to pick up this special boy from his Russian breeder Oksana Kompaniets (Modny Style Kennel) in December of 2015. We sought out his great bloodlines and were so charmed when we saw him. The hotel staff was also completely smitten with his sweet personality and cute puppy antics during our stay in Amsterdam. He is a now a fun, athletic, family dog with a terrific temperament and excellent health screening.
"Brynn" - is a very sweet, happy clown with an incredible blood line both for temperament and health. She completed her American conformation championship in a few short weekends around the country. She went BOS at the 2017 Montgomery County National Club Sweepstakes and is now having a great time in Rally class back home in Virginia!
We have themes for our litters to help us develop their registered names. We also give the pups nicknames so we don't have to use "Pink Collared Girl". We don't teach the pups those names, we just use them for reference and for fun.
